I've been at Trunk animating something rather sweet for Slovenian director Rok Predin, along with Grigoris. It's a TV piece about a new law in Slovenia which is going to affect the music industry in Slovenia, a shame.

Lip-synching the birds to their respective songs was quite a bit of fun.

Une petite pub sur laquelle j'ai animé chez Trunk, réalisé par le Slovène Rok Predin. Il s'agit d'un spot télé contre une loi qui risque d'amener de grosses coupures de budget sur la culture et notamment la création musicale en Slovénie.

L'oiseau français chante Frères Jacques, je savais que c'était aussi connu hors frontières...

France 3 Idents

I worked on these idents at the lovely Trunk Animation in June, under the direction of Layla Atkinson, produced by Richard Barnett. Needless to say that, because it is easier to lip-synch characters when you know what they're saying, Raphal Di Roma and myself, being French, were the best people for the job :p

The compositing magic is Rob Ward's work, and the original photographic backgrounds are from Ben Turner.

It was a lovely job, and I enjoyed the company of Layla's dog a lot. A dog in the studio is a lovely thing.

J'ai travaillé sur ces petits clips/habillages pour France 3 en juin, chez Trunk Animation, un studio Londonien génial où il y a un chien, celui de la réalisatrice Layla Atkinson. Et un chien dans un studio d'animation, c'est marrant. Ces mini films auraient dû passer sur France 3 pendant cet été, mais n'étant pas en France cet été je n'ai pas eu la confirmation que la diffusion a bien eu lieu.

J'ai animé les personnages avec l'aide de Raphaël Di Roma, et le compositing est de Rob Ward, les photos des décors sont de Ben Turner.

L'établissement 'La Marmite d'Hélène' ainsi que sa carte sont de moi, j'envisage d'ouvrir un restau de fruit de mers dans quelque années si l'animation vient à manquer. :p

Hey hey.

Here's a little film I've working on for the last couple of months for a live-action production company called Collective New York. The ad is actually directed by Ben Callner and produced by his brother, Adam Callner. No chance of me ever working in this way with my siblings. :)

I designed, storyboarded and animated the piece, with the precious help of Grigoris Leontiades and Ginny Robertson. I also found out that working for New York is just perfect if you're a bit slow in the morning, you just work a little bit later in the night.

Hi.

I apologise for the lack of posts, I realise I've been ignoring this blog for months now. :)

I'm just back from France where I was animating on a short corporate film for La Maif at MrHyde for 3 months - I won't show any of this here, not only because it's not going to be out for a little while but also because it's not my style, and...well. Let's just say that I had to animate 4min in 4 weeks, after 2 months spent updating a storyboard...Too much politics spoil the animation, that's what I found out. ;)

Here is another thing which is happening at the same time. Au Poil, the short film I've been working on for the last...say...2 years (?) was in February in the final selection of the CNC committee (the equivalent of the British Film Council, generous with funding short films). Unfortunately, or fortunately, I didn't get it, but got granted a 2000€ grant to rewrite some of the script, and got assigned a tutor to help me with it. The making of film is a saga, and the film itself is turning into a 10 - 13 min...I guess it will be better than it was going to be, but it's a bit of an on going joke to ask me how my film is going, considering the grant I initially got was in December 2008...

So the images below are part of the previous version of the script (in no particular order), and these scenes are now out. Quite a lot of the script has changed dramatically, and I'm now working on the storyboard to send it for another committee at the end of May. Fingers crossed.

Je suis désolée du manque de posts, ca fait maintenant des mois que j'ignore ce blog avec application...mais c'est aussi parce que j'ai commencé celui-là pendant que j'étais à Paris...

Bref. J'ai animé un petit film institutionnel pour la Maif à MrHyde pendant 3 mois, sur lequel je ne dirai pas grand-chose, car ca a été pour le moins dire une production difficile, et quand on anime 4 minutes en 4 semaines après avoir mis à jour un board pendant 2 mois...bon ben ca donne ce que ca donne.

Pendant ce temps y a mon film, Au Poil, qui, non, ne commence pas encore, mais y a du nouveau. La commission pleinière du CNC nous encourage à ré-écrire le scénario (oui, c'est la 15ème version, mais bon) avec une bourse de ré-écriture de 2000€ et un tuteur assigné. Voici donc des images qui faisaient partie de la version précédente, des scènes coupées ou qui vont beaucoup changer. Le scénar a beaucoup changé et le film a pris une tournure complètement différente, et fera maintenant entre 10 et 13 min....

Voili voilou, je me remets au board qui doit faire partie du nouveau dossier pour le 20 mai.

I designed the character and the backgrounds, and the beautiful animation has been crafted by the super talented Laura Nailor and Jeroen Jaspaert. Direction by Dan Greaves at Tandem. Like a few things we've worked on in 2009, it has sometimes been wrongly credited as Simon's cat, so sorry to spill the beans...

Voici une petite publicité pour Feliway sur laquelle j'ai travaillé cet été. J'ai créé le personnage du chat et les décors. On doit l'animation à Laura Nailor and Jeroen Jaspaert qui sont supers forts. Réalisation Dan Greaves à Tandem. Comme pas mal de trucs sur lesquels j'ai travaillé l'an dernier, ce film a été crédité `Simon's Cat', ce qui est une erreur. Pardon de casser le mythe, mais sinon on s'en sort pas...:)

Off to Paris

I'm off to Paris to work on a 3min corporate film for a French insurance company, at MrHyde, the studio who is representing me for commercials in France. I will be directed by the amazing Joris Clerté who's work I've been following for a while after meeting him a year ago. Check his work at the DoncVoila, very clever work.

Je pars à Paris pour quelques mois pour travailler sur un petit film institutionnel chez MrHyde, studio qui me représente en Gaule pour les pubs. Je vais animer sous la direction du génial Joris Clerté que j'ai rencontré l'an dernier et dont j'apprécie beaucoup le travail, notamment les petits films un peu rentre-dedans dans ce genre...

Here is an entry to a competition I was keeping secret for a while. It was a 30s film about nutrition/healthy eating for TF1, a French TV channel who's commissionning films for children with a small budget but which will be broadcast. Unfortunately my proposal got rejected in the final selection, although it had passed the first one. Bugger. Oh well, maybe I'll make it anyway one day when I have time and nothing else to do. Shame, because the film would have been made at Kawanimation, who I'm a big fan of... T_T

Voilà des images du dossier que j'avais envoyé au concours TFOU pour TF1, sur le thème 'Bien manger, c'est bien joué'. Le brief était d'écrire un film de 30s pour les enfants, avec un petit budget de fabrication mais une diffusion télé à la clé. Mon dossier a finalement été rejeté à la sélection finale, il avait passé la première. Surtout que le studio Parisien super cool Kawanimation avait proposé de le produire. Crotte. T_T

First a quick Christmas card I did for the agency Big Idea in December (a bit late...but if you're French, it's perfectly all right to think of sending cards at this time of year!). It was done in a bit of a rush, but I did take part in the art direction ( copy is not mine though).

Quelques petits trucs et nouvelles, mais avant tout une très bonne année aux trois / quatre amis qui lisent ce bolg. Bolg? :0)

Une petite carte de de voeux faite pour l'agence BigIdea basée à Paris, un peu vite faite manque de temps, mais j'ai participé à l'idée de base (la copy n'est pas de moi).

The brief was to create a 30s commercial for the French equivalent of the Yellow Pages, on a track from Persephone's Bees and using and (or not) the brand character of the brand which is a cave man. I worked on the trailer of the Tate and Aardman Movie Project, which is much talked about this morning in the press.

Directed by the amazing Sarah Cox who I was lucky to work with for a little while before joing Tandemfilms, the project has been kept secret for a while... I helped design the character from Sarah's sketches and animated it with the help of brilliant Ginny Robertson. A guardian journalist seems to not quite get the idea - I think it's a brilliant initiative and I hope I'll be involved again.

Orange Maps

In February 09 I had the chance of directing these two short films for Orange, through Tandemfilms for the London agency AKQA.I had to create these two characters, Luc and Georges, and devise along with the creatives an eventful journey to a 'glamorous' pool party, to which our protagonists manage to get to thanks to the new Orange Maps feature. The films are visible on the Orange French and English website.

En Février 09 j'ai eu la chance de réaliser pour AKQA Londres sur ces deux petits films pour Orange, grâce à Tandemfilms. J'ai dû créer ces deux personnages, Luc et Georges, et imaginer avec les créatifs leur itinéraire jusqu'à une soirée piscine pour téléphones portables, illustrant la technologie 'Orange Maps'. Les films sont sur les sites Français et Anglais d'Orange.
